It’s WildKAT Challenge Week!

WildKAT Challenge week is upon us!  The PTO is excited and ready for our annual day of fun and quizzing this Thursday, February 21.  We hope the kids have had fun getting ready.  If you have not turned in pledge sheets yet, please do so ASAP.

We have to say thanks to everyone who has volunteered so far.  It looks like we will have enough volunteers for the day and we can’t wait to see everyone on Thursday.  If you’re still interested in helping out, we can always use extra help as it’s a busy day.  Please contact us at [email protected].

Next, we are excited about the prizes we have for our students this year.  Huge thanks to Jim’s Music for donating a guitar as well as several free lessons!  We also have a Nintendo Switch and many other toys and games.  More details on the prizes to come.  We’re going to give 1 ticket to every student for participating, then 1 ticket for every 10 questions they get right.  Any student who gets all of his/her questions right will also get a bonus ticket for a maximum of seven tickets per student.  After the challenge is over we will determine the number of tickets won by each student and distribute them.   The week of April 8-12 we will display the prizes at school and students can put their tickets in to buckets corresponding with the prize(s) they’d like to win.  The prize winners will be chosen and announced at the WildKAT Challenge Dance on Friday, April 12.

There will be more news this week, but this is it for tonight.  Keep studying so we can raise money to help our school.  Have a great week!

January 22 Update

It’s a big week for the PTO.  Here’s a quick update on all of the events:

The WildKAT Challenge kicks off today!  Packets will be sent home with students this afternoon.  Please take a look and consider collecting pledges and volunteering.  Click here and look for the packets tonight for more information.

The next PTO meeting is Thursday night, January 24, at 6:00 PM.  Construction is done in the library, so it will be held there and open to all parents and teachers.  Free child care will be provided.  It will also be available live on Facebook.  Make sure to follow the Webster PTO on FB if you haven’t already.  Agenda items will include the WildKAT Challenge, the ArtSmart Scholarship, the new sign in front of school, and our upcoming Penny Pitch.  We hope you can join us!

The Second Grade Special Person Lunch is this Friday, January 25, from 12:20 – 12:50 PM.  If you have a second grader at Webster, please join them for a fun lunch!  Also remember that the 25th is an early release and students will be done with school at 1:00.

Lastly, the PTO would like to thank everyone who made Movie Night a success last Friday.  It was the first movie night in the renovated gymnasium/auditorium and the new A/V equipment did not disappoint.  We had recommendations from many parents after the movie that we should do that more often.  We agree and will try to plan more in the future.

Thanks, and have a great week.

WildKAT Challenge Starts TODAY!

The WildKAT Challenge officially kicks off TODAY!  The packets will be sent home with students this afternoon.  More details in the coming days about prizes for participation and fundraising.

The WildKAT Challenge is a Knowledge-a-Thon that will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019.  The list of questions has been sent home with the packets, but can also be viewed online here (click the numbered tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet to view questions for different grades).  Your support in helping our students showcase their knowledge and supporting our school is greatly appreciated!

Students will be collecting pledges for the WildKAT Challenge over the next several weeks.  100% of the money raised goes to benefit the students of Webster Elementary School.

We need your help to make this a success!!

  • Assist your child in filling out the pledge sheet and requesting pledges from family, friends or anyone who would be interested in supporting our students.  Pledges can be either a “per question amount” for the 50 questions (20 questions for 4K) or a straight dollar amount.
  • The pledge sheet needs to be returned to school by Friday, February 8th.  It is important that all pledge sheets are returned, even if no pledges were collected.  We do, however, encourage everyone to participate in this event. The students have a great time and pledges support our school.
  • Please give strong consideration to volunteering for this event.  The WildKAT Challenge requires 35-40 volunteers to be a success and we need your help!  Grandparents, aunts, uncles, family friends and anyone else you can think of can volunteer.  If you are interested, please fill out the attached volunteer form.
  • If you have questions about the WildKAT Challenge please contact us at [email protected].

Thank you very much!

January 9 Update

Greetings, Webster Family!  We hope you had a fantastic Winter Recess and everyone is back in the swing of things.  We have a busy winter ahead with some big activities planned.

First up is our annual Movie Night coming up next Friday, January 18, in our newly renovated gym/auditorium.  This year’s movie will be Smallfoot.  This is a free event and all families are welcome.  We will have popcorn, candy, juice, and water available for sale.  The event starts at 6:00 PM and kids are encouraged to bring sleeping bags and PJ’s to get comfortable on the gym floor.

Our 4th Annual WildKAT Challenge is coming up on February 21.  For those unfamiliar, the WildKAT Challenge is an all-day Knowledge-a-Thon and students answer questions to raise money for the PTO.  The official kickoff will be January 22.  We will be sending home family packets with all of the details on that day.  We have big things planned this year with a lot of opportunities for kids to win big prizes for raising money and answering questions correctly.  We’ll be looking for a lot of volunteers for the event, so if you’re able, please keep February 21 available and bring some family and friends.  Again, a lot more information to come on January 24.

The final big piece of news we have right now is that the new digital sign was installed in front of the school yesterday!  We look forward to the sign being a great tool to communicate Webster’s events to the community.  If you haven’t seen it, take a drive down Webster Avenue and check it out.

That’s all for tonight.  Have a great week and we’ll be back with more next week.

Weekly Newsletter 9/18/18

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Lots of info this week so I’ll skip the small talk.

Our first PTO Meeting of the school year is this Thursday, September 20, at 6:00 PM in the Webster Library.  We will have child care available at that time, so feel free to bring the kids.  If you can’t make it but would still like to take part, make sure to friend the Webster PTO on Facebook, then follow the meeting on Facebook Live.
We have multiple volunteer opportunities available right now.  This Monday, September 24, is Picture Day.  While the kids are getting their pictures taken we need a few volunteers to help with the process…making sure the kids get back and forth to their classes, getting them ready for pics, supervising while they’re waiting, etc.  If you’re interested please contact us ASAP at [email protected] or call the office at (920) 448-2143.
The office is also looking for help putting together the Tuesday informational envelopes that are sent home to every family.  This would be a few hours of work every other Tuesday morning (starting this coming Tuesday) for the entire school year.  If you are willing and able to do that, please contact us at [email protected] or (920) 448-2143 as well.  As always, any and all help is very much appreciated!
Lastly, just a friendly reminder that the Hansen’s sale has just under a week left.  We hope everyone has been busy selling.  Remember that the order forms, payments, and envelopes need to be sent to school with your kids no later than this Monday, September 24.  If you have any questions about the sale, please contact us at [email protected].
Again, please join us for the meeting this Thursday evening to get updates on everything the PTO will be working on.  We hope to see you there.  Have a great week!

News Update Week of 4/9/18

Hi Webster Staff and Parents,

Here is the news for this week:

  • Thank you to all who came to our WildKAT Challenge Celebration Dance last Friday night. We had a really fun time boogie down and shaking it off with all present. Winners of the raffle prizes need not to have been present to receive their prize. Each ticket should have the student’s name and class; PTO will be checking in to make sure everyone gets their prize.
  • We also had a great PTO meeting last week Thursday night. We had three big things happen in our meeting:
    • First, we heard from a local Charitable Social Network called HuTerra. HuTerra operates an app that allows users to take pictures of receipts from stores to have a portion of the money you spend donated to Webster Elementary’s PTO. More information about how to download and use the app from HuTerra will be coming soon.
    • Second, the PTO Board awarded two ArtSmart Scholarships to two students, Aria Hoffman and Olivia Zawacki, for their up coming trip to New York City to participate in the trial run of a Junior Version of a Broadway Musical. This opportunity comes after the two girls were selected by Kevin Flogel and successfully auditioned via video submission; they will be joined by three students from East High School.
      • In a further effort to help these students with their trip, the PTO is organizing a fundraising committee to create fundraising opportunities to support the travel costs for this trip. If you have ideas for fundraisers and would like to join this committee please email the PTO at [email protected], contact us on Facebook, or write to us on Slack.
    • Third, the PTO has nominated four individuals for our 2018-2019 school year Board.  Voting will take place at our next PTO Meeting on Thursday, May 17th at 6 PM in the Webster Elementary School Library.
      • Jessica Hebert was nominated as Co-Chair
      • Loren Prince was nominated as Co-Chair
      • Charlie Brawner was nominated as Communications Director
      • Corey Femling was nominated as Treasurer
  • As always, if you have questions about the PTO or what we’re doing at school please reach out to us on Facebook, email, or Slack.
